GIVING SOMETHING BACK
From our humble origins in Harrogate we’ve grown to become one of Yorkshire’s leading digital and technology companies. And it simply wouldn’t have been possible without the talent of our fantastic Yorkshire folk.

Today we have more than 1,400 colleagues working in Leeds and Sheffield. Between us, we’re focused on giving something back and making a positive difference to the communities that have given us so much.

Every colleague is given 16 hours of paid leave each year as part of our Volunteering Programme so they can dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to causes close to their hearts.

We use SHINE, a local social enterprise to cater at our events.

STRONGER,
TOGETHER

Each year we choose a charity partner, which we then support through employee fundraising and events. Our colleagues are invited to nominate charities that are close to their hearts and then given the chance to ‘pitch’ for the business’s support.

The Charity of the Year is then decided by a vote — with everyone at SBG getting one vote each. The partnership creates an opportunity to tap into our collective skills and brand reach. We explore how we can support our Charity of the Year further — like getting involved ourselves or making the most of our network and connections.

OUR 2020 CHARITY PARTNER

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities, which provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care.

Here’s what we’ve been doing to raise money throughout 2020:
£20K TO CELEBRATE 20 YEARS
2020 marks our 20th birthday and we wanted to share our celebrations with Macmillan Cancer Support by donating £20,000.
BIG VIRTUAL COFFEE PARTY
As part of our 20th birthday celebrations we held a virtual coffee day including cocktail making, bake a Colin the Caterpillar, wheel of fortune & more.

Our fundraising efforts included a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a cycling sportive and charity football kit sales to staff, in partnership with the EFL.

Our flagship event was the Charity Ball, organised by our Charity Committee and held at the prestigious Leeds Royal Armouries. The evening featured a virtual horse race and a charity game of bingo, called by Sky Bingo ambassador Rylan Clark-Neal, which raised over £85,000 alone.
